![]() ![]() Many can also record what’s taking place inside the cabin. Some also record moment to moment how fast you’re going, and GPS coordinates to indicate precisely where you’ve been. Some come with a rear-mounted unit that records activity behind the car and can double as a backup camera, which is handy if your vehicle isn’t already equipped with one. These compact cameras are specifically designed for automotive use and create a video record of whatever goes on in front of the car, such as oncoming traffic and crossing pedestrians. Dash cams can provide video documentation of, among other things, crashes and interactions with law enforcement, a record of where (and at what speeds) young members of a household are driving, and even the behavior of passengers. Transcend DrivePro 200 – Summaryĭespite my reservations regarding the appearance of the Transcend DrivePro 200, it is a very solid performing dash cam and most definitely worth its price tag.The number of consumers driving with dash cameras affixed to their windshields continues to grow, with nearly 1.3 million aftermarket dash cams shipped in 2022, according to Kyle Wandel, manager of business intelligence at CTA, an electronics industry trade association. It would be fairly easy to disguise these features with insulation tape or a black marker pen, but for some this might not be a desirable option. Perhaps people are less likely to buy a product that looks cheap, but in the case of a dash cam I think the cheaper it looks, the better. The Transcend DrivePro 200 may attract too much unwanted attention. For a lazy person like me, however, I’d certainly opt for a less visible product. If you are the type of person who always removes tech from your car when parked, I guess this wouldn’t really be an issue. It’s sure to catch the eye of any potential thief looking to make some quick cash. ![]() This unnecessary shiny finish, the WiFi logo and the 1080p text around the lens stands outs like a sore thumb. The body of the dash cam is a nice matt black texture which is great, but for some reason I cannot understand, they have used a bright chrome finish around the bezel. This brings me to appearance of the Transcend DrivePro 200. It’s smaller than most Sat Navs, so it’s not really an issue when it comes to obscuring your view, but it’s visibility when left in the car is more obvious. Not the biggest dash cam I’ve seen, but certainly not the most compact either. Let’s jump straight into the flaws, which are predominantly due to the design of the product. The video review goes into great detail about all the features and you can see actual recorded footage at 7:40mins and onwards. Here is one of the best video dash cam reviews I have come across so far, featuring the Transcend DrivePro 200. This feature is also automatically started if the dash cam detects an impact. There is also a red button on the side to activate an emergency mode, which will then protect the footage in a separate folder. The DrivePro 200, when activated will continuously record footage and store them in seamless cuts at intervals of 1 minute or more. Definitely as good or possibly even better than dash cams costing twice as much. The Transcend DrivePro 200 has a ton of really impressive features and the video quality even at night is exceptionally clear and smooth. Audio recording – pretty basic audio quality, certainly not in-line with the video quality.WiFi support with app for smartphone connectivity to let you stream, download, and share videos.Free 16gb memory card (32gb supported) – 16gigs will give you over 400 mins of footage before it loops over.Motion G- Sensor to detect impact events and auto protect the recording.160°viewing angle for an extra wide perspective.Full HD 1080p recording at 30fps – Max resolution 1960×1080. ![]()
